THE QUANTEL BURSARY SCHEME
The Quantel Bursary Scheme is open to students of video, graphics, art, animation, editing and effects graduating this year (or last year) and gives a unique opportunity to acquire user skills by gaining hands on experience by using Quantel products such as the world renowned eQ, iQ and Paintbox. In addition it also offers the chance to gain experience of other broadcast related equipment and see how it is used in the television and post production industries.
As a Bursary student you will be employed by Quantel for an eighteen month period which starts in October. At the end of the scheme there is the possibility of being offered a permanent position within the Company’s Broadcast/Post Departments. Experience is obtained by continuous training on our equipment, both from a creative and technical viewpoint, gaining exposure to a post production environment and by undertaking commercial projects.
It is anticipated that for the first three months you will be based in Newbury involved in the day to day routine of the Broadcast/Post Department. This will include assisting with demonstrations, exhibitions, training and in-house work. You may also get a chance to travel overseas to take part in equipment demonstrations at customer sites. Thereafter you will have the opportunity of a three month placement, typically at a facilities house in the UK. You would then return to Quantel for the remaining period of the scheme.
This outstanding opportunity is something not to be missed - a chance to continue to develop your artistic skills with the latest technology and be paid at the same time!
THE QUANTEL RETAINER PLACEMENT SCHEME
Quantel offers a retainer placement within our Research and Development Department each year for a student wishing to study a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, General Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
How can it help you?
A retainer placement provides you with some financial support throughout your degree course and a salary during the periods of work experience undertaken within the Company, when up-to-date practical technical experience is gained. Depending on your situation we will assess your eligibility for a retainer by interview.
How does the retainer placement scheme work?
Students would join the Company for a pre-university year; delaying the start of their degree by a year. Throughout the duration of the degree, students return to the Company during long vacations. Throughout these periods of work experience students undertake various ‘real’ technical assignments.
How to apply
Before applying, students should have secured a degree place at a university. Once you have your degree place write to us at the address below, during the early part of the year, stating that you are interested in our retainer scheme. It would then be necessary for you to attend a selection interview at our offices in Newbury, with a view to joining the scheme around September or October of that year.
If you have a strong interest in either of these schemes please call Lorraine Matthews, Senior Human Resources Officer, on Newbury (01635) 264295 for an application form.
